They have a high standard they have set for themselves, and live up to it. They have a very high spirit, communicate well within one another, and always run on a heightened energy pattern. They also assist one another when the situation calls for it. Problems are handled swiftly, with resolutions that stick. The team and project succeeds because they succeed as a group.

Projects rarely run according to plans and scheduled. Problems are sure to rear their ugly head, attempting to ruin the best laid schemes. The very efficient running team can change with the environment, remaining flexible, adhering to a plan of change management, and keeping the project on task. Their insight and attitude remains on keel, never wavering or diminishing. The team discipline is strong, plying their skill sets towards the greater good of the project and the business.

There is no jealously or envy in the high flying, performing team. If one team member shines, the others feed off the aura and is happy for the team member. There are no dysfunctional team members waiting for the chance to take their teammate down a peg or two. No one sabotages the efforts of another.

And there is nothing that will bring a team down than a manager with issues of insecurity, jealously, a leader who needs the limelight, steals all the credit, and passes the blame to others. Just as you would not place regular fuel in a high performance sports car, do not place a less than capable manager within a high performance team. The project manager must be up to the level of their standards and measurements. The leader also needs the technical abilities plus the knowledge of how to conduct a project.
